I have been having trouble finding a way to make my kids start their school work in the morning......I know I am the parent and I can make them do things...but I was hoping to find a way to be a little more relaxed about it and let them do their school work when they wanted with some rules for what they have to do and such. What I mean by this is if they don't do it in the morning then that is ok....but they may not have computer time and or TV time. They also have to finish before dinner or they don't get computer at all that day.
It would seem this is easier than it sounds, but I don't like seeing them mess around all day and then trying to do their school when they are tired and grumpy. But I have realized that it would be easier to just let them do it their way and let the consequences happen if they do not get it done by morning. I don't have to wait for them...I can just go about my day and when they get to it they get to. I have also told them that I will not be readily available when they see fit to call me. If they wait all day then ask me to help them, and I am busy.....they will have to wait for me. I won't make them wait long but I will make them wait a few minutes.
So God showed me today that if I just let this happen and know he has control of this, everyone is happier. I am more relaxed and able to get done what I need to do for the day if I don't fret so much about what they are choosing to do with their day.
I do have to stay on top of my littlest, but he is still learning and school is a new concept for him.....he is only six after all.
